Alyssa Whan dropped out of college only to return at the age of 25. When she restarted at �۲ʿ��� in 2017, she had a plan.

Two years later, she graduated from �۲ʿ��� with an Associate in Science – Pre-Nursing and transferred to OU-Tulsa to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

“I chose this path because I want to complete my BSN and then apply to a doctorate program,” said Whan.

She did a lot of research about the degree she wanted to earn, comparing programs and determining what classes transferred best.

“An academic advisor recommended I earn an associate degree before transferring so I didn’t lose credit hours in the process. I am so glad I listened and completed not only my degree but several additional classes to transfer as prerequisites specific to OU-Tulsa’s program,” said Whan.

Named a semifinalist for the Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, a prestigious award while at �۲ʿ���, she credits the faculty with helping her succeed.

“The �۲ʿ��� faculty are amazing. I had a great experience. I am so grateful to the instructors who encouraged me, suggested I apply for the Jack Kent Cooke scholarship and then helped me with the process,” said Whan, who was named a semifinalist for the scholarship.
